Now, this dessert is extra special to me because Bama, my grandmother, made this every Thanksgiving. I knew when we got in the car to go to her house, that this is what I had waited all year for! It's a perfect blend of whipped cream, sweetened cream cheese, chocolate pudding and nuts. I know you'll enjoy this one!

First Layer:

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup) (cubed)

1/2 teaspoon salt (only if butter is unsalted. If your using salted butter, no need to add salt.)

Second Layer:

1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese (softened)

1 cup powdered sugar

1 cup whipped cream (like cool whip, 8 oz. package)

Third Layer:

2 (3.9 oz.) packages of chocolate pudding (instant only)

3 cups milk

Fourth Layer:

Remaining whipped cream from 8 oz. container

Small chocolate bar for grating on top

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. For the first layer, put the flour in a large mixing bowl and use a fork to work the cubes of butter into the flour. You can also use your fingers to do this. You'll know your done when the butter balls are about the size of peas. Stir in the pecans.

  3. Press the mixture into a 13x9 inch pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.

  4. For the second layer, put the cream cheese and the powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Mix on medium high until light and fluffy. You can also use either a hand held mixer, or a fork if you don't have a mixer. Add 1 cup of whipped cream and mix thoroughly. Spread the mixture over cooled crust.

  5. for the third layer, beat the instant pudding and the milk together with a hand held mixer, or fork. The pudding will thicken. Pour on top of the second layer and spread it out evenly.

  6. For the fourth layer, carefully dollop the remaining whipped cream on top of the third layer. Then, spread it out evenly. Cover and let set for about 3 hours. When your ready to serve, grate chocolate bar over the top. You can grate the chocolate bar with either a peeler or a sharp knife.

  7. You are now ready to serve!!! Enjoy!

Note: A cooler chocolate bar will yield smaller shavings and a warmer chocolate bar will yield larger shavings.
